Working in the world of superyacht construction

In superyacht construction, tolerances are tighter than in almost any other segment. Timelines follow each other in rapid succession. Levels of finish regarded as exceptional in other industries are simply the baseline here. A surface that has to look perfect at close range leaves no room for imperfections.

Many disciplines work on the same project, at the same time: shipyards, naval architects, project managers, and owners’ representatives—each with their own responsibilities and expectations. Coordination is not a side issue. It is a fundamental condition for delivering a project on time and to expectations.

Our role in the building process

In superyacht construction, quality starts before the first application. That’s why we are often brought in during the early stages of a project. All activities are carefully documented. Coating systems, measurement results, and inspections are documented in full. This ensures that all parties involved have a clear record of what was carried out, even years after completion.

New builds and refit

New builds

For new builds, we are involved from the hull onward. In this phase, we lay the foundation for coating systems with a long technical service life. Each successive finishing layer is applied to a reliable foundation. When this stage is done right, it determines not only the ship’s protection but also its appearance and ease of maintenance for years to come.

Refit

Refit projects call for a different approach. We work within long-standing systems, with limited access to structures and a schedule where many disciplines are working at the same time. That is why we carefully assess the existing coating systems and the underlying surface before any work starts. We identify where repair is needed and where there is room for improvement. Execution is handled discreetly and systematically, with minimal impact on the project timeline.

Specialised applications

In superyacht projects, proven systems are used. On projects where the highest standard of finish is required.

Propspeed helps prevent marine growth on propellers and propulsion systems. This helps improve fuel efficiency and reduce maintenance. Lightspeed protects underwater lighting from contamination and deposits without reducing light performance.

For visible areas, we apply techniques and materials specifically tailored to the aesthetic and technical requirements of the superyacht segment. Corrosion control plays a crucial role here: not only in extending the service life of systems, but also in preserving the yacht’s visual finish.
