Within defence projects, performance is not an objective. It is a requirement. Always.
De Koninggroep delivers surface preparation, coating and preservation for naval vessels and defence applications. New-build projects, maintenance and refit. Executed with the control, precision and operational discipline this environment demands.

Naval vessels and defence applications operate under strict requirements for corrosion protection, chemical resistance and long-term durability. Surface preparation and coating must meet exacting specifications — with zero margin for error.
De Koninggroep works in accordance with established standards and specifications as applied within the naval and defence sector. Our teams are accustomed to the procedural requirements, documentation obligations and quality controls that characterise these projects. Execution takes place in a structured, controlled environment.
Security and confidentiality are integral to our way of working. We handle project information with the required discretion and operate with a clear understanding of the responsibilities this entails.

Reliable performance starts with proper preparation. That’s why we are often brought in during the early stages of a project. We contribute to planning, phasing, system selection and practical execution. By aligning technical decisions and scheduling upfront, risks later in the process are reduced. During execution, we work in a structured manner and in close coordination with other disciplines on site.
Thorough surface preparation is the foundation of every coating system. We carry out blasting work, mechanical preparation and cleaning in accordance with the applicable standards and specifications.
Coatings are applied under controlled conditions, in accordance with approved systems and the required application parameters. Each layer is applied and cured under monitored conditions.
Quality is monitored throughout the entire process. Inspections are carried out at every stage, using calibrated instruments and in accordance with the applicable standards.
Every project is fully documented. Inspection reports, application logs and material certificates are included in the project dossier, ready for handover to the client and, where required, to the classification society.

For new builds, we are involved from the hull onward. This is where the foundation is established for long-term protection and reliable operational performance. The quality of execution during this phase directly influences future maintenance requirements and the long-term condition of the vessel.
Within refit and maintenance projects, work is carried out within long-standing systems, often with restricted access and multiple disciplines operating simultaneously within a compressed schedule. That is why we carefully assess the existing coating systems and underlying surface before any work starts. We identify where repair is needed and where there is room for improvement. Execution is carried out discreetly, systematically and with minimal disruption to the overall project schedule.

We work exclusively with systems that have proven their performance under demanding operational conditions.
Effective corrosion protection underpins every project we deliver. Not only to preserve materials, but to safeguard operational reliability.
Additional applications, including foul-release coatings for underwater hull sections, contribute to improved efficiency and reduced maintenance requirements. Propspeed prevents marine growth on propellers and propulsion systems. Lightspeed protects underwater lighting against fouling and contamination without affecting light output.
