Propspeed

Less fouling. Less resistance. Less maintenance.
Propspeed is a specialist coating system for propellers and other underwater metal components. The system prevents marine growth, keeps surfaces smooth and helps maintain vessel performance over time. All without the use of toxic substances or aggressive cleaning methods. Applied worldwide on superyachts, workboats and naval vessels.

What is Propspeed

Propspeed is a specialist foul-release coating developed for underwater metal components such as propellers, shafts and rudders. The system prevents marine organisms from attaching to the surface, without relying on biocides or toxic antifouling paints. It provides an effective alternative to traditional antifouling systems on critical propulsion components.

Propspeed is designed for maritime applications where performance depends directly on maintaining a clean and smooth underwater surface. By reducing marine growth, underwater components continue to perform as intended throughout operation.

What are the benefits?

  • Reduced hydrodynamic resistance
  • Maintained vessel speed and propulsion efficiency
  • Lower fuel consumption
  • Reduced maintenance on propellers and underwater components
  • Extended lifespan of critical parts
  • Reduced downtime for cleaning and overhaul

How does Propspeed work?

Propspeed operates using foul-release technology. The system creates an ultra-smooth surface to which marine organisms such as algae, barnacles and mussels struggle to adhere. Any fouling that does occur can generally be removed through normal vessel movement or cleaned easily without damaging the coated surface.

It works mechanically rather than chemically. No biocides or toxic substances are released into the water.

Application within maritime projects

Propspeed is applied to underwater metal components vulnerable to fouling, including propellers, shafts, rudders and trim tabs.

The system is widely used within superyacht construction, commercial vessels and maritime installations where performance losses caused by fouling directly affect efficiency, fuel consumption and maintenance requirements.

Application and execution by De Koninggroep

The performance of Propspeed depends entirely on correct preparation and application. An inadequately prepared substrate compromises the effectiveness of the system, regardless of product quality.

De Koninggroep manages the complete process, from blasting and surface preparation to the controlled application of the full coating system. Execution is carried out according to specification and under the correct environmental conditions. This ensures predictable quality and reliable long-term performance.
